Visit Samal Island Summer Saya 2017 kicks off
ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL – The pounding of the gong and astonishing fireworks display marked the opening of the Visit Samal Island (VSI) Summer Saya 2017 at the Freedom Park in Barangay Peñaplata last April 22.
Visit Samal Island, which was spearheaded by the City Investment and Tourism Office in partnership with the private stakeholders, aims to promote tourism industry and make Samal Island a prime destination for tourists to spend their summer and vacation.
This year’s Visit Samal Island 2017 is complete with different activities for the enjoyment and excitement of all tourists and Samaleños.
Last April 23, the BPI Durianman Triathlon was also held at Club Samal in Barangay Caliclic. An island-wide 2017 Summer Sports Clinic was also conducted on April 23 until May 12 and on April 29, Caracoles de Punta del Sol will happen.
Samal Marathon, Bigiw Regatta, 1st Mayor’s Cup Practical Shooting Competition, Face of Samal Island Runway and Mardi Gras are some of the many activities of this year’s Visit Samal Island which will run until May 20.
“Visit Samal Island is the main marketing program of Samal Island to increase tourist arrivals and this year’s VSI 2017. We are expecting a 10% increase of tourist arrivals from last year”, said Jennifer D. Carriaga, City Investment and Tourism Officer.
