- By Ivy C. Tejano

OFFICE of Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp) Secretary Jesus Dureza on Monday warned the public against a certain “Aguelo” whom he was informed was soliciting for P2-million for Dureza’s pocket money to Russia.

Dureza, on his official Facebook account, said he received a message from a well-meaning friend who contacted his nephew and informed him that, he was told that a Davao contractor was approached by Aguelo to solicit P2million for Dureza.

“Wow! I am still waiting for the turnover of the P2-million to me. Please do, Mr. Aguelo and yes, thank you, but please be a bit more accurate as I am not going to Russia at all with the President (Rodrigo Duterte),” Dureza posted.

Dureza also said that he is going to Netherlands on Thursday. He said Opapp is implementing billions of pesos worth of Pamana projects all over the country and he is asking the support of the public to report to him directly any information about corrupt practices by anyone, adding that he will protect those who are willing to help them.

The Opapp secretary, in a separate Facebook post, said he received a text message from someone who had read his post, saying that the reason Aguelo has been asking for a big amount because he has a debt to the owner of the Big 8 Corporate Hotel in Tagum City.

According to Dureza’s source, this Aguelo was a sub-contractor in a mining firm in Surigao and that he has deceived a lot of people, including the brothers of the source. He said that they will disclose more so they can zero in on Aguelo whom he did not know.

Meanwhile, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region 11 Director lawyer Arnold Rosales said the bureau has no information about this Aguelo. He added that they have not yet received any complaint about the latter. He also said that they will look into the matter.
