Neda to distribute book on struggle

THE National Economic and Development Authority Cordillera (Neda-CAR) is planning to distribute the book "A Victory Postponed" to the different schools in the region to share stories of those who have fought for autonomy.

Neda-CAR assistant director Jedidiah Aquino said they are planning to distribute the books to different schools including the higher education institutions in the region.

The book was launched on April 30 with 3,000 copies published by Neda composed of 10 stories of former members of the Cordillera Peoples Liberation Army (CPLA) who have fought for the Cordillera autonomy 30 years ago.

"They were the story tellers who have narrated their stories for the autonomy, they have shared their stories and their heroism," Aquino said.

"We would like to share these books to the schools so they will get to know the deeds of our story tellers in strengthening the move towards autonomy. This is for the youth to know the struggle for autonomy which is now on its 30th year," Aquino said.

Aquino added no date has been set for the distribution while the second volume of the book culled from writers is still in the gathering stage as NedaCAR urged citizens to share their stories of the struggle for autonomy.

On April 24, Presidential Adviser on Peace Process Secretary Jesus Dureza together with Neda, CPLA members and other Cordillera Groups, convened in Mountain Province, to push for the Cordillera Autonomy.

All representatives of the region have filed a bill in Congress last March supporting the push.
