GERMAN ambassador to the Philippines Gordon Kricke expressed interest in sending in German businessmen to Davao City once the Marawi disturbance is over, said Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) official.

Last Tuesday, June 20, Kricke came to Davao City and met with the DCCCII president Ronald Go.

Although no specific investment plans had been laid down during the meeting yet, Go said there is interest in getting German businessmen in the city once the Marawi disturbance is over. Also, the ambassador expressed their interest in participating in the city and DCCCII’s future activities. The number of the members of the delegation coming has yet to be finalized as well.

“It’s significant because it shows that the German ambassador was not afraid to come and see the things going on in Marawi as temporary,” Go said.

Earlier, DCCCII trustee Arturo Milan said investors see beyond the Martial Law in Mindanao. He said investors know that whatever the current effects of Martial Law in the island is temporary.

“Investments are not short-term. We don’t make investment decisions just because Martial Law is declared now. They (investors) look at the opportunity at a longer timeframe if the potential is good. We all know that potential for business growth is good in Davao City,” Milan said.
