Balancing family, career

- By Ivy C. Tejano

"BEING a full-time working parent is difficult in any capacity and at the same time very rewarding - whether you are a single parent or simply dealing with

with the challenges about parenthood. It takes full energy and love to do all things."

This is how 26-year-old Lizza Antonette Taton-Bentinganan describes her daily routine as a mother, as a wife, and as a career woman. Taton-Bentinganan is an event planner/organizer, host and singer of her own business Events by Liz.

Events by Liz offers the best and quality service and planning for all types of events - weddings, bridal/ baby shower, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate events, christening and all other parties for a very reasonable and affordable price.

Aside from her own business, Taton-Bentinganan also works as a virtual assistant for Outsourcing Angel. She is also a theater actor of the Icea Performing Arts and a member of the Couples For Christ (CFC) for two years in Davao City.

"Full-time working mom really goes through a whole extent of emotions. But I love it, being a supermom of two kids (10-year-old boy and one-year-old girl), a wife to my loving husband, and a career woman," Taton-Bentinganan said.

It was not an easy path to where she is now. Whatever she possess now in life, she said, she got it with all her effort, courage and strength with God's guidance. This stemmed after she delivered her first child at the age of 14.

"Hindi talaga madali. But my experiences in life taught me how to stand up and strive hard. Everything I went through bring me closer to God and mold me as a better person. Malaki na ang pinag-kaiba ni Liz noon sa ngayon," she said.

Taton-Bentinganan said never did she regret anything that happened in her life. Despite the heavy responsibilities on her shoulders now, she never thought of quitting. She added that she has the greatest career in the world.

"I am very proud of myself that I was able to reach this point in life. I am also grateful to my loving husband and to our kids, especially to God. He gave me more than from what I asked for. Masasabi ko talaga na masaya ako," she said.

Though she has hectic schedule, she makes sure that she has time for her husband Matthew Jan Kristian and for their two children Kee Angelo and Malia Pristine.

Her husband describes her as a loving, sweet, organized and perfectionist "in a good way".

Taton-Bentinganan completed her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) in 2013.

Before she started her own business, she was once a disk jockey (DJ) at Yes FM in 2009 as DJ Creamy. She transferred at Energy FM as DJ Tonee Gee in 2012 then tried her luck as anchor in TV5 from 2013 to 2014.

In 2014, she returned as DJ Lianne and Lady Guava at Home Radio before she got her job as a virtual assistant for the Outsourcing Angel.

Taton-Bentinganan aspires to do more in life for her loved ones and for others. This, after she remembered her event coordinator, who is also a friend, told her that she is blessed because she has been a blessing to others.

She realized that she has a big responsibility to provide not only for herself and for her family but also to other people who depend on her. It is like hitting two birds with one stone, she said.
