Mineral prod’n in R11 at P4.71-B in 2016

MINERAL production of Davao Region for 2016 reached up to P4.71 billion as per data provided by the Mines and Geoscience­s Bureau (MGB) Davao Region.

In Davao City, the recorded minerals produced were all non-metallic with lime (cement) having the highest value at P663.03 million. This was followed by limestone at P217.12 million, tuff/pozzolana at P33.07 million, sand and gravel at P16.85 million, earthfill at P5.49 million, and gabbro at 109,000.

Compostela Valley has a recorded of P3.52 billion worth of minerals produced last year making it the highest producing province in the region. Out of this number, around P3.25 billion was gold and P256.81 million was silver. It was then followed by P10.77 million worth of sand and gravel. Other minerals produced by Compostela Valley include copper ore (P1.98 million), boulders (P38,853), and earthfill (P21,353).

Davao del Norte has a mineral production of P155.53 million with P125.06 million from sand and gravel and P30.47 million from earthfill.

Around P71.61 million worth of minerals was produced by Davao Oriental. Most of its mineral production was from nickel/laterite reaching up to P55.70 million. Some of its other mineral produce include sand and gravel (P12.11 million), copper ore (P3.79 million), and boulders (P66,000).

Davao del Sur’s mineral production has a recorded P19.81 million with sand and gravel amounting to P18.68 million and boulders at P1.13 million.

The MGB has yet to have a data for Davao Occidental.
