Discover Leadership Program ends
THIRTEEN coaches and sports leaders in Mindanao completed the three-day Mindanao Peace Games (MPG)-organized Discover Leadership Program that came to a close on June 21 at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas, Metro Manila.
Participants were Joy Ada of St. Vincent College of Dipolog City, Wemir Joy Cupin of La Salle University-Ozamis, Reynaldo Mancia of Iligan Medical Center College, Jose Alther Rivera of University of Southeastern Philippines, Charles Suarez of San Pedro College, Fr. Angelo Buenavides of Sarrangani Peace Network Incorporated and Jinky Arriola of St. Joseph Institute of Technology-Butuan City while the coaches were Jessica Esparrago of Xavier University-Cagayan de Oro City, Simone Jaldon of Ateneo de Davao University, Paola Salvador of Holy Cross of Davao College, Caryyljane Capiñanes, of Holy Trinity College-General Santos City, Zehan Dimalanes of Datu Ibrahim Paglas Memorial College-Maguindanao and Roland Guadalupe of Midnanao State University-Marawi City.
Among the highlights of the three-day activity were the talks provided by former Olympian swimmer Akiko Thompson-Guevara and former national athlete Stephen Fernandez who shared their insights on the value of good coaching and international exposure in elevating the standards of the culture of sports.
Participants also enjoyed the certificate diving course spearheaded by Benedict Reyes, president of the Philippine Association of Underwater Activities (PAUA). They also learned introduction to scuba diving facilitated by members of the Philippine Finswimming Federation, Inc. (PFFI).
The event was capped with a formal dinner hosted by the management of Discovery Suites.
MPG spearheaded by its main conevenor Noli Ayo, sports director of Addu, meanwhile, will hold its 2nd Leaders Summit slated in Singapore in July.
