Legionnaires rule past Raiders
American football introduced in Davao City
THE Davao Legionnaires took the homecourt advantage as it won the game against the visiting Manila Raiders with 4216, in the American Football Mayhem held last Saturday at the Tionko Football Grounds.
The Legionnaires scored a 20-8 lead against the Raiders in the first half before unloading another two-point surge in the second half to win the milestone event presented by the Flowers Power Football League.
With the reinforcement of John Paul Moreno, Ryan Dianga, Adnan Musa and Alexander Canda, the Legionnaires scored consecutive touch down which was quite enough to outplay the visiting team.
As the Legionnaires took one step away from its pursuit to prominence, its team captain Paul Oliver Reyes is hopeful for a successful reap after sixlong years of sowing.
"Our vision is to promote the sport wherein all element of the game appeals to every kind of sports fan. Our goal is to expand American football here in Mindanao," Reyes said.
The team is eyeing to visit Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro, and Tagum City.
"We will strive to make an American football revolution through the help of Flower Power Promotions as well as the Manila Raiders and other cities who are willing to try the sport and create a whole new sports community," added Reyes.
The Legionnaires are composed of Reyes, Canda, Dianga, Roberto Bernardo, Chenikandiyil Jordan, Kenjie Mercado, Drien Paclar, Jecho Maghari, Mckeen Asma, Clark Adrian Ponce, Joffrey Escoreal, Erwin Del Rosario, Alberto Genise, Bryan Anthony Estacion, Alexis Manzanares, Floyd Lentejas, Sailormon Arnaiz, Kelsey Fernandez, Jonathan Saligon, Menkent Barcelon, Kep Delos Reyes, Jefferson Lutche, Dabid Velasco, Karlo Luen Laluna, Kent Johnie Torejas, Miles Galicia, Melzar Nicole Galicia Jr., Jose Marie Sedayao, Kliene Manriquez, James Ryan Jandayan, Nathaniel Dave Reyes, Fransisco Priego and Ryzel Delicana.
