4K join Eid’l Fitr
AROUND 4,000 participants attended yesterday’s centralized worship for the Eid’l Fitr celebration held at Tionko Football Field, Ecoland, Davao City.
Deputy Mayor of Maranao Tribe Randy Usman, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday, described the observance of the Feast of Ramadan as peaceful.
“More than peaceful yung pag celebrate ng Eid’l Fitr. The prayer sermon is very clear (and it talked about) mostly Islamic values,” he said.
He said the 30-day Ramadan reminded and taught them the teachings of Islam that must be understood.
“Tinuturo lahat ng kabutihan, paano maging isang mabuting Muslim,” he said.
He said they are more than happy with the success of the event.
“Masaya kami kasi nakaperform kami ng prayer dito sa Davao,” he said.
He said that the participants were estimated to be between 3,000 to 4,000 composed of the Muslim residents in Davao City, professionals and some visitors from Cotabato City including Marawi evacuees.
Usman said Indian Muslims, visitors from Bangladesh, Malaysian Dignitaries, and Merci Group President also attended the event.
Usman said they are praying that Allah will guide the Muslims who are working with the terrorists to have a change of heart and for the end of the war in Marawi.
He said that there are currently a total of 567 individuals from Marawi in Davao City and are now listed in the master list of the office of the Maranao deputy mayor. KVC
