UV Express drivers’ PROfiLING PROPOSED
A ONE-DAY Driver’s Academy and profiling of UV Express drivers will be done in coordination with government agencies and local government of Davao as proposed by Davao City Councilor Conrado Baluran under the committee on the transportation and communication.
Baluran said with the Driver’s Academy, the drivers will undergo refresher courses on basic traffic rules.
“Dunay refresher course tanan drivers they will be refreshed sa ilang pagabuhaton. On that particular schedule, there will also be anger management so that they will not overtake and hit each other's vehicles,” Baluran said in a media interview Friday.
He said during the event, the drivers will also undergo profiling to come up with a database.
“Naa pud tay ginatawag nga database sa drivers information nga tanang operators mag-submit sila’g legitimate drivers kung kinsa tung ilang pa-draybon sa ilang unit. I-submit nila sa Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), tagaan ug
copy ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) para guided mi nga kining mga driver ni mao jud ni atong i-monitor (We also have the database of the drivers’ information in which all the operators will submit legitimate drivers who will drive their unit. They will submit it to the LTFRB, they will copy furnish it to the LTO so that they will be guided who are the drivers to monitor),” Baluran said.
Meanwhile, during the committee hearing with the northbound and southbound van drivers last Friday, an official from Highway Patrol Group also suggested that the van operators should inform other van operators should they encounter problematic drivers to pevent them from hiring the same person.
Baluran added that idea of establishing a driver’s academy and anger management training came as a suggestion from Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte.
He said the same event will be done with the coordination of LTO, LTFRB, City Transportation and Traffic Management Office.
The committee hearing last Friday was initially done in reaction to the suspension of the operation of northbound vans after a passenger van smashed into a truck in Bunawan district last June 14 which killed 11 people and wounded eight others. KVC
