Houses turned over to families in Lupon town

-

DAVAO ORIENTAL – Fifty-four housing units have been officially turned over to housing beneficiaries in Barangay San Isidro in Lupon town on Friday, June 23.

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang awarded the Certificates of Occupancy to the beneficiaries in time for the village’s 48th Founding Anniversary.

The housing project, which was successfully completed about a year ago, was implemented under the Modified Shelter Assistance Program (MSAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Provincial Government during the former administration of then Governor, now representative of the province’s first district to the Congress, Cong. Corazon N. Malanyaon.

The project was initiated to shelter the families who were left homeless after their houses were destroyed by landslides brought about by Low Pressure Area “Agaton” that hit the province in 2014.

The relocation site located at Sitio Calasagan is where families from three sitios now live. Flora Romo, one of the beneficiaries, said she is happy that she doesn’t have to worry about where to raise her family as it was already given for free.

Meanwhile, heeding the residents’ concerns over the damaged road going to the resettlement site, Governor Dayanghirang vowed to provide support for its repair through the Provincial Aid.

Dayanghirang said he will also send a team of engineers from the province to inspect the area and to determine what other support the province can provide.

In addition to the houses, the Governor announced that an ongoing diversion road project is being implemented near their barangay that will hopefully ease the means of transportation, especially to the residents here who are mostly farmers.

The said diversion road project traverses from the highway junction to nearby barangays of Libudon, Sanghay, and Culian in the City of Mati, which adjacent to the village of San Isidro.

“This diversion road will not only help people transport goods but will also serve as an alternate route especially in times of disasters,” said Governor Dayanghirang. PIO
