Tech4ED launched at Davao City Library
IN A bid to integrate information communication technology (ICT) to the public library, the Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED) Center was launched on June 7, 2017 at Davao City Library & Information Center (DCLIC).
Tech4ED is a project component of the Filipino program of the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Office of the Department of Science & Technology (DOST) that aims to harness ICT to enable, empower and transform society toward creating an inclusive, integrated, and equitable countryside.
The project aims to establish computer centers in the rural areas to create more self-reliant communities through access to connectivity, communication, information, knowledge, and vital government services in a bid to give equal opportunities to national participation and sevelopment.
This project is created for the people from various sectors like outof-school youth (OSY), teachers, students, people with disabilities (PWDs), women, and senior citizens, among others.
One of the services that can be availed at the center is the eEduSkills, which aims to deliver e-learning on demand to address the education divide. other services include the eAssist that gives users access to special contents like ICT for Digital Literacy, ICT for Financial Literacy, ICT for Career Development, and ICT for Entrepreneurs; mMarketPlace that aims to help people reach markets beyond their areas for exponential growth; eAssess, which provides industry assessment and certification for the purpose of convenience and cost-efficiency; mAgri or mobile-Agri, which enhances farm technologies for product diversity; and eGovServ, which provides direct government services in rural communities.
