300 pax from Canada set to visit city next year

- By Karina V. Cañedo

A 300-MAN delegation from Canada is being scheduled for next year following the recent 11th Ambassadors’ Tour held here in the city.

Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) chief Generose D. Tecson in a media interview yesterday said the commitment of representatives from Canada to bring in the delegation came as a result of the successful visit of 196 ambassadors.

"Andami daw naiingit, in fact Canada, which will also hold their own ambassador's tour, has already confirmed that they are coming to Davao in February," Tecson said.

She added that the event held here in Davao made the visitors realize that there is nothing to be scared of in Davao City.

"Yung pagpunta nila dito, they were so amazed in how things are in Davao City, in fact there we so many complaints from sa ibang lugar bago sila dumating dito. Pagdating nila tuwang-tuwa sila sabi nila nasaan martial law?" she added.

Tecson noted that the guests immediately posted their pictures from dinner hosted by the city government.

She added that not all who visited were ambassadors, it was also by consul generals and vice-consulate officials scattered in the United States.

"Yung ibang sumama naman ay anak ng mga balikbayan na hindi pa nakaka-experience ng Pilipinas," she said

The ambassador's tour started last week and ended last July 16. KVC
