AP mapping system gains recognition
THE mapping system being used by AboitizPower affiliates Visayan Electric Company (Veco) and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) has been recognized and endorsed by Google as one of its enterprise geographic information system (GIS) solutions.
Agila, which has been developed into a product and renamed GeoSmart, is listed as one of 29 solutions developed by Google Map partners and is being offered to other Google customers around the world. It was developed by Navagis in collaboration with AboitizPower to improve efficiency in managing inventory and in providing timely service to Veco and DLPC customers.
Jojo Guingao, AEV FVP-Digital Management, said that Agila brings mobility, agility, and accessibility to the process. It means improved productivity for the DUs because VECO and DLPC personnel no longer have to do ocular inspections to verify their drawing board projections.
“Before Agila, designing a line extension or a network maintenance takes days to complete. Now, it takes hours to finish everything including the materials and labor required to implement a work order,” said Bobong Borja, AP Distribution Utilities AVPInformation Services Group.
Since it is using Google Maps, Agila or GeoSmart has maximized the functionalities available on the Google platform like Street View, Geo-fencing, Point of interests (POIs), and Crowdsourcing to name a few.
Some of these functionalities are also useful to Veco and DavaoLight, like Street View, which allows personnel to see the situation on the ground without having to be physically on site.
Agila guarantees customer satisfaction by ensuring shorter waiting time for those applying for new line extensions with VECO and DLPC customers. PR
