THE Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) Davao in cooperation with the Private School Athletic Association (Prisaa) will hold a sports festival that will kick off on August 6.

The newly re-elected Prisaa regional president Ma. Lita Montalban, who is also the assistant secretary of YMCA Davao, said the collaboration between the two active associations aims to develop Christian values through sports and promote the spirit of camaraderie among the participants.

"The participants involved in this program are Prisaa-member schools. We are also expecting around 20 teams from the 32 member schools of the Prisaa," Montalban said, adding that the initial venue of all the events will be at the Department of Public Works and Higways (DPWH) gym.

Montalban added that they are eyeing to hold the opening program at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

The three-month sportsfest will feature the boys basketball and boys and girls basketball and chess.

Games will be held Saturdays and Sundays.

Montalban said the program is a revised version of the previous year's edition.

"There will be no age limit to allow all students of the school to participate. Last year we only have boys’ basketball but now we added other events," she said.

Montalban also was elated with the YMCA Davao partnership under the supervision of its executive director Silvia Piedad.

"We are very much excited to hold more events which will hone the spiritual character of the children under the program of YMCA and Prisaa," Montalban said.
