INITIAL rituals for the construction of tribal houses for the Kadayawan Village are set to start today.

Among the eleven tribes, the Ata Tribe will conduct their initial ritual today at 2 p.m. at Magsaysay Park.

This has been agreed during the meeting of the deputy mayors yesterday at the City Tourism Operations Office.

According to William Banzali, the coordinator for Kadayawan Village, the tribe will possibly offer animal sacrifice during the ritual.

Aside from the Ata Tribe, the Bagobo-Klata tribe will also conduct their own separate ritual on Saturday,

Bagobo-Klata Deputy Mayor Herminia Ortiz said that during the ritual the tirbe will offer a white chicken and the eldest of their tribe will lead the prayer.

Ortiz said that the roof of their house will be made of bamboo and the walls will be made of round timber.

She said that currently, they are preparing for the materials.

Banzali added that the other tribes will also conduct their own ground breaking ritwal

"Ang gawin nilang ritwal ito yung ginagawa sila ng bahay lalo na kung ang bahay na gagawin ay may layunin siya na magpakita ng kultura, ang unang panawagan nila lalo na sa kadayawan yung mapromote kapayapaan pagkakaisa. Pagkatapos ng ritwal magtatayo na sila ng bahay at pagkatapos naman ng bahay may ritwal na namang gagawin,” he said.

"Yung iba mag ritual bukas, for us, Muslims there is no need for a rit-

ual. Maguindanawon, Tausug, Kagan Sama Iranun, are Muslim tribes. Depende sa kanila if may ritual sila na gagawin pero sa amin hindi na kami magritwal," Deputy Mayor of Maguindanawon Tribe Ismael Nakan said, adding that the per tribe was given P100,000 each from the city government for the construction of tribal houses.

Nakan said each tribe will show their culture, traditional dances, and even food.
