Igacos holds security training
IN A bid to maintain peace and order in the community, the local government of the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos), through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led by City Local Government Operation Officer Rosario P. Laid, in coordination with the Samal Task Force, and the Philippine National Police, conducted the Civilian Volunteers Organization (CVO) Specialized Skills Training for the three districts of the island.
The training started on July 17 to 18, 2017 for Babak District.
The training aims to harness and equip necessary skills and knowledge needed for the CVO to fully accomplish their function in preventing criminality as well as maintaining and securing peace and order in their respective barangays.
Police Superintendent Noel C. Asumen and Sikatuna Caballero of Philippine National Police discussed the topic on citizen arrest; Sergeant Julius Bolotano discussed the intelligence collection; and Captain Jerson M. Palawan of Samal Task Force gave a lecture on Barangay Infiltration and the actual practice of gun firing.
“Fortunately Samal Island has no threat group, however, we, together with the PNP, coastguard and other security personnel keep stepping up the security measure in the city. CVOs are the lowest law enforcement but they brought huge help to maintain and secure the peace and order to our community,” Palawan said.
He added, “Some of our CVO are fishermen and they can easily monitor the seafarer and those people who want to infiltrate our Island or their respective coastal barangay. We emphasized during the training the need to be more vigilant in their community since our City has a lot of entry points.”
Samal district is scheduled on July 20 to 21 and July 26 to 27 for Kaputian District. EMMA/Samal Info
