- By Christian Gerard Briones, UIC Intern

THE Davao City Council passed last Monday, August 1, a resolution requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to donate two ambulances to the City Health Office.

The resolution reads that the City Health Office will assign and deploy the said ambulances to the Paquibato District Hospital and the Birthing Home Facility in Marilog District.

It stated that the City Health Office concretizes its mandate of promoting and providing health care and medical services, and accessible by the general public even in remote areas of Davao City.

“both [hospital and birthing home] are located in far-flung areas where transportation accessibility and availability to provide during emergencies and life and death situations must be given weight to effectively and efficiently serve the residents of both Paquibato and Marilog Districts,” the resolution read.

It further stated that the Local Health Board of Davao city has issued a resolution to give authority to Dr. Rucelle Billanes, Chief of Paquibato District Hospital, and Dr. Jojit Marbas, Chief of Birthing Home Facility in Marilog District, to request for Ambulance Units for their respective districts.

The request also includes the allocation of the necessary funds for the ambulances’ utilization, operation, and maintenance from the PCSO.

The resolution was proposed by Health Committee Chair Mary Joselle Villafuerte.
