THE Ginoong Kadayawan Mindanao Bodybuildi­ng Challenge 2017 will get unfurl on August 11 at the NCCC Mall activity center.

Rhotelo Labestre United Bodybuildi­ng Associatio­n (UBA) vice-president Rhotelo Labestre, who was among the guests of the Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center Family Room yesterday, said the event is sponsored by the Sports Developmen­t Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) and aims to provide opportunit­y for bodybuilde­rs to showcase the body they worked hard for.

Labestre, however, said from the initial plan of making it exclusive for local participan­ts, they opened it to visiting participan­ts.

Participan­ts from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are expected to join the bodybuildi­ng contest backed by Nature's Spring, BrawnFuel and Nico.

Categories entered are bantamweig­ht (65 kilograms and below), lightweigh­t (66 to 70 kilograms and heavy weight (71 kilograms and up).

Jemie Adjad, 46, and Jess Serafica, 26, were among the contenders of UBA representi­ng Davao City.

Adjad, a 2006 Mr. Dabaw champion and a fourth placer in the 2005 Mr. Philippine­s, said they will try their best to win despite tough entries from other clubs in the country.

Adjad will compete in the heavyweigh­t division.

Serafica, meanwhile, will compete in the bantamweig­ht division for his debut stint.

Cash prizes are at stake with the top seven placers receiving P15,000, P10,000, P8,000, P5,000, P4,000 and P2,000.

The best poser will also receive P1,000.
