Kadayawan Village 60% complete

THE Kadayawan Village constructe­d in Magsaysay Park is already 60 percent complete.

Kadayawan Spokespers­on and City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) officer-in-charge Generose Tecson bared this yesterday during the I-Speak media forum at the City Hall conference room.

The Kadayawan Village will showcase the 11 tribes of Davao City.

"Since the end of July, they constructe­d the houses by hand, and it is already 60 percent complete," she said.

She added that the Tribal Village will be open at 4 p.m. on August 14, 2017.

She said on August 15 to 20 Bantawan, a cultural showcase of each tribe will be staged at the village and will be witnessed by visitors in the area. It will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the scheduled dates.

The Panagtagbo, a show of unity of all the 11 tribes, will be held after the Subang Sinugdanan or the fluvial parade on August 18.

The tribal games or the Dula Kadayawan will also be held on the same day.

"We have urged all schools to inform students to join. The tribal games will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some games are interactiv­e wherein visitors [non-IPs] can participat­e and can be taught how our Lumad brothers and sisters can play the game," she said.KVC(For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
