Passion to serve

AS we celebrate the 18th Founding Anniversary of Sun.Star Davao Superbalita last July 24 this year, we found our industry partners whose common passion is to serve the people.

Just like Superbalita, they love to serve the people without counting any return.

This is what we discovered from Dr. Eldeen Llanto-Baluso, owner of Global Eye Care Center, who has been our partner in Free Eye Clinic for two consecutive years.

"It's my passion to serve the people. We did this (Free Clinics) since 1988 when our beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was Vice Mayor of Davao City. We were partners in our outreach program in the city," Baluso said during our meeting in line with the preparations of the project.

Baluso said she would be more happy every time she could give free check up and free reading eyeglasses to the beneficiaries; hence she will always accept requests from different organizations.

If there are beneficiaries who need a comprehensive examinations, especially those beneficiaries during our free eye clinic who came late, she offered her services for free at her clinics along A. Pichon Street, Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, and Gaisano Mall of Davao.

With a big heart in helping the needy, Baluso is blessed with brilliant children who became topnotchers in Doctor of Optometry Licensure Examinations. Dr. Lareen Dawn L. Baluso emerged Top 2 in July 2015 examinations and Dr. Tara Akeem L. Baluso was Top 1 in July 2016 examinations.

She said for as long as she is physically fit to conduct free clinics, she will do this for the rest of her life.

Like Dr. Baluso, our consistent partner in Free Hair Cut for six years, Arlyn L. Basquez, shared the same commitment to the less fortunate children through free hair cut.

Basquez, who is the owner of ALB Academy of Beauty, Inc. on Roxas Avenue this city, expressed her happines every time she could see the beautiful faces of their beneficiaries.

"Free services to the people is our passion," Basquez said.

For almost ten years of managing her school, thousands of students were given the opportunity to own and manage their own parlor. Some of them are now earning dollars abroad.

Without them during our founding anniversary, we are pretty sure the activities will never succeed.

The said activities were supported by President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, 90.7 DXBM Love Radio Davao, Alvin Mendiola, Barangay Captain Mar Masanguid, Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao, and Kings Vita Plus Animal Feed Supplement.
