422 motorists get TOP
A TOTAL of 422 motorists were issued a Temporary Operators Permits (TOP) by the traffic enforcers during the citywide surprise operation dubbed as Oplan: Lambat Bitag Sasakyan conducted yesterday morning.
According to the chief of the Davao City Police Office- Traffic Group (DCPO-TG) Superintendent Ernesto Castillo, the operation which started from 9 a.m. and ended at around 11 p.m. aimed to clear the city's streets from undocumented vehicles and unlicensed drivers plying along major thoroughfares.
He added that the
most common violations that the motorist had incurred are not wearing of helmet, no side mirror and no seatbelt.
It was a joint effort of the DCPO, Task Force Davao, Highway Patrol Group, Public Safety and Security Command Center, City Traffic and Transportation Management Office, Land Transportation Office 11, and the volunteer Police Auxiliary who comprised the team.
Early morning yesterday, traffic law enforcers became visible along the national highways and stopped suspicious vehicles and violators.
"Our objective is to recover carnapped vehicle at 100 percent maregistered ang mga vehicles," Castillo said.
Aside from the issuance of TOP, Castillo added that they have also impounded a total of 143 unregistered vehicles including 122 motorcycles, 17 motorcycles with side car and two four-wheeled cars. JCR
