AboitizPower awards 12 college scholarships anew

-

TWELVE engineering students of the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) received full scholarships for the school year 2017-2018 from AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South, Inc. (TSI) and Aboitiz Foundation.

The scholars, along with their parents, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with TSI and USEP last July 24, 2017.

“The partnership of Usep and TSI complement each other. TSI supports the students that the university produces and helps us mold them into capable and competitive engineers. To the scholars, my warmest congratulations for being chosen. I want you to live up to the expectations of your sponsor TSI by doing good academically and morally,” said Engr. Angel de Vera, Usep Dean of the College of Engineering.

TSI has been giving scholarships with monthly allowance to deserving engineering students of USEP for three years now.

“The TSI scholarship program is purposive, meaning that when you graduate and become successful engineers one day, you will all be prioritized for employment across the business units of AboitizPower,” said Jason Magnaye, TSI Manager for Reputation and Stakeholder Management.

“The TSI scholarship has really been a big help to us. Despite the pressures and challenges of student life, we are motivated to endure, because we have a picture of where we are going. Thank you for your patience and for believing in us,” said scholar Joshua Enrique Ching.

For her part, Tamsi Jasmin Gervacio, USEP Director for the Office of Student Services, thanked TSI for the support that it has extended to the scholars over the years.

“I would like to say thank you to TSI for providing holistic financial assistance to the students. Most students from the university are coming from indigent families, so your assistance truly helps them. Not only in their academic struggles, but also their families as well,” said Gervacio. PR
