Get Into Rugby kicks off tomorrow

THE Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) in coordinati­on with the Sports Developmen­t Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) will hold its 4th Kadayawan Get Into Rugby Festival that will unfurl tomorrow, Saturday, at the Tionko Football Field along Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City.

PRFU senior program developmen­t officer Rose Lanticse, who guested in yesterday's Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum held at the Family Room of NCCC Mall B3, said the two-day event is part of the Get Into Rugby program that is supported by the city government of Davao through SDD-CMO.

Aside from celebratin­g the 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw, Lanticse said it also aims to effectivel­y develop the sports and promote the Get Into Rugby branding.

"Club members and teacher-coaches will also be able to practice their touch rugby match officiatin­g knowledge," Lanticse said, adding that the event will also serve as a scouting opportunit­y to select potential athletes to represent Davao City in the upcoming national and internatio­nal tournament­s.

Lanticse added that from 200 participan­ts last year, they expect around 300 participan­ts to join in this year's edition of the event backed by Direct Aid Program, Pot Bellied Pigs RFC Hong Kong.
