Get Into Rugby kicks off tomorrow

THE Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) in coordination with the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) will hold its 4th Kadayawan Get Into Rugby Festival that will unfurl tomorrow, Saturday, at the Tionko Football Field along Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City.

PRFU senior program development officer Rose Lanticse, who guested in yesterday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the Family Room of NCCC Mall B3, said the two-day event is part of the Get Into Rugby program that is supported by the city government of Davao through SDD-CMO.

Aside from celebrating the 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw, Lanticse said it also aims to effectively develop the sports and promote the Get Into Rugby branding.

"Club members and teacher-coaches will also be able to practice their touch rugby match officiating knowledge," Lanticse said, adding that the event will also serve as a scouting opportunity to select potential athletes to represent Davao City in the upcoming national and international tournaments.

Lanticse added that from 200 participants last year, they expect around 300 participants to join in this year's edition of the event backed by Direct Aid Program, Pot Bellied Pigs RFC Hong Kong.
