Training on citation tickets issuance set
THE Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) is set to conduct orientation to all traffic enforcers for the possible issuance of citation tickets for violators of the Anti-Jaywalking ordinance starting next month.
CTTMO chief Dionesio Abude, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao last Monday, said that they are making sure that the implementation on the issuance of citation tickets will be done in proper manner. Thus all enforcers will undergo training on August 23 to 26.
Abude said they currently have 424 traffic per- sonnel.
"Out of that we will rank them then we will know how many will be qualified to issue citation tickets," Abude said.
Since December, thousands of jaywalkers have been apprehended by the city but were issued with receipt to attend the seminar on the Anti-Jaywalking Ordinance every Friday.
With the issuance of the citation tickets, a fine of P100 per violation will be asked by the CTTMO.
Those who cannot pay the amount will be asked to render four hours community service to be supervised by the Davao City
Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO).
Names of violators who will not adhere to any of the fine or community service may be reported to the City Mayor's Office for proper filing of charges.
Anti-Jaywalking Ordinance exempts senior citizen, persons with disabilities, children 15 years old and below.
Abude added that the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Land Transportation Office for the joint coordination in apprehending traffic violators is eyed to be passed to the City Council soon.
If signed, the MOA will allow the city to conduct noncontact apprehension of drivers of vehicles through the use of the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
CTTMO would then report to the LTO to freeze the renewal of driver's license of those who are caught in the non-contact apprehensions.
Abude assured that they will form a separate team under CTTMO to watch and monitor for non-contact apprehension.
