Kadayawan opening a success: Alabado

-

THE 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival opening was a huge success, the Department of Tourism 11 (DOT 11) regional director said.

DOT 11 director Robbie Alabado said the huge attendance of Dabawenyos marked the success of the opening on Monday.

Alabado, who was among the guests, said the overwhelming support of the Dabawenyos to the 11 tribes is a sure marker of the event’s big turnout.

“Kung tan-awon nato karon many Dabawenyos are here right now and we will see the various tribes and both lumad and muslim who are donning their tribal attire and it is showing pagmamayabang ng mga tribo their kadayawan festival, I think success na agad tayo doon (As we see it, many Dabawenyos are here right now and we will see the various tribes in both Lumad and Muslim who are donning their tribal attire and it shows how the tribes are proud with their culture during the Festival. I think we are already successful on that),” Alabado said.

He also said that Magsaysay Park stage, which was surrounded with the tribal houses of the 11

tribes, was a "perfect venue" for the opening.

“I see that we are surrounded by physical attributes of our culture, not only the tribes but even their houses,… for me, the venue where to open the Kadayawan, this is a very perfect venue…, surrounded by the houses of the IPs themselves and our Muslim tribes,” he said.

The Mass was attended by prominent personalities, tribal Datus, and Muslim Ulamas and city government officials. During the opening, Muslim, Lumad and Christian said prayers. For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/ davao/)
