PDIC holds training for senior citizens
The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporaton last week conducted training on how to be wise savers to the senior citizen government employees and bankers in Davao City.
Davao City Administrator Zuleika Lopez said the PDIC as part of their drive for financial literacy partnered with the city for the set of trainings last August 16 to 19 and distributed materials for financial wellness in Davao City library.
"They are donating books to the barangay captains for them to be a wise saver. They have also conducted training for the senior citizens in Davao
City," Lopez said.
She added that this is the welcome move from the agency as it importantly guides the senior citizens upon their retirement.
"Importante senior citizens kasi pag magretire sila they will get lumsum benefits ng iba nagkakamali at nilalagay sa scam, PDIC teaches filipinos to take care of their money not just interms of saving it investing it," she said
Lopez said the official turnover of reading materials from the agency to the Davao City Library took place last Friday.
She said the distribution of reading materials to the barangays came as the city's suggestion noting that some people in barangays tend to be victimized by multi-level scams.
Lopez added that this week the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will also conduct trainings on financial literacy which will focus on credit cards.
She added that the training coming from these agencies is very helpful since it is not profit-driven.
"This is good kasi sila financial regulator, there are trainings from insurance companies but kasi it's negosyo for them. Ang PDIC and BSP sila mismo yung financial regulator who make fact check, not sell the product," she added.
Lopez said that the BSP are set to conduct trainings within this week. KVC
