Tribal leaders happy with Kadayawan this year

leaders expressed satisfacti­on in this year’s 32nd Kadayawan Celebratio­n.

Datu Isidro Anac of Bagobo-Tagabawa tribe after the Panagtagbo of the eleven tribes at Tionko field last Friday expressed that he was happy at their tribe’s participat­ion in the events.

"I really enjoyed participat­ing in this year’s 32nd Kadayawan," Anac said.

He added that he is also calling for other Tagabawa tribe members to join participat­e in Kadayawan events in the next year.

"Ipaabot nako sa mga kabukiran panahon nga sama niini magtungha sila aron pud maka-experience sa mga gwapo nga kisanatian, samtang buhi pata kihanglan kita ug inspiratio­n sa atong kinabuhi.(I want to invite those who are living in the hinterland­s to join in the events such as this so that they can also have a beautiful experience. While we are alive we must be inspired)," he said.

Anac said the Kadayawan celebratio­n featured beautiful dances and different culture of the different tribes.

He added that before some of those in their tribe opt not to join since they are “allergic" to the city.

Anac said the participat­ion has been improved since education has been brought to the hinterland­s and the children were informed about the Kadayawan.

"Ang mga kabataan dili na mag-ignore aning Kadayawan tungod kay kalipay mani sa kinatibuka­n sa Davao City (The youth do not ignore the Kadayawan since it is joyful celebratio­n of all Davao City)," he added.

Likewise, Datu Carlito Guinto of the Matigsalug Tribe, said he shares the same sentiments with Anac.

"Nalipay kay nagtapokta­pok ang tribo. Nagpasalam­at kay Mayor Sara Duterte ug kay President Duterte na-recognize ang tribo nga Matigsalug (I am very happy that the tribes were once again united. I also thank Davao City Mayor Sara Z. DuterteCar­pio and President Duterte for recognizin­g the Matigsalug tribe)," he said.

Meanwhile, Sama Tribe Deputy Mayor Es-

telita Tanjili Mahamud said their tribe really had fun during the activities for the eleven tribes in Kadayawan.

"We are happy together at tsaka makita namin na talagang enjoy na enjoy ang aming tribo," she said.

The eleven tribes on Friday, August 19, 2017 actively participat­ed in the Subang Sinugdanan or Panagtagbo at Tionko field; Tribal at Magsaysay Park; and the Hiyas sa Kadayawan competitio­n in the evening at the University of Southeaste­rn Philippine­s. KVC
