KRIS AQUINO TO JAMES YAP: 'Stop using Bimb for publicity'

- SunStar Philippines

MANILA - "Enough is enough."

This was the message of television host Kris Aquino to basketball star and ex-husband James Yap after the latter revealed in a recent interview that he hasn't seen his son for almost a year.

In a lengthy post, Aquino said she has kept her silence for the longest time as she respects Yap as the father of her youngest child, but she couldn't let the name of the 10-year-old Bimby be dragged in a new issue.

"There comes a point when being quiet just doesn't cut it anymore. I tried my best to be proper, to maintain dignified silence for the sake of peace, but when the other party is again playing the sympathy card, the mother in me just has to say enough is enough.”

She said it is not proper to talk about his relationship, or the lack of it, with his son in public, especially when he's at an opening of his new restaurant-bar.

Aquino said he should have declined from answering any personal questions from the press, especially when it involves a minor kid.

"I have a full blog post in reply to this interview given at the opening of a 'bar'. There comes a point when being QUIET just doesn't cut it anymore. I tried my best to be PROPER, to maintain dignified silence for the sake of PEACE - but when the other party is again playing the sympathy card, the mother in me just has to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... The Queen of All Media added that she refrained from talking about their issues in public and she expects the same from Yap for the sake of their child.

Aquino then accused the cager of not exerting any effort to get to know Bimby, spend time with the kid or even share the financial responsibilities.

She said the last time Yap "shared" for the kid's tuition was when he was in 2nd grade, which was three years ago.

Aquino also brought up an incident last New Year's Eve when Bimb was rushed to the hospital. Aquino said Yap didn't even offer to help pay for his medications.

"I have let that be since God has more than adequately been generous with us and I believe that a father's financial responsibility should naturally come from his heart."

The Queen of Talk added that she maintained communication lines with Yap's partner Michela Cazzola as the latter genuinely tried to get to know her children, unlike the cager.

The actress told Yap not to "play the victim again" after he walked away with millions after their four years of marriage.

In the end, Aquino said she has done her best to leave the past behind and to forgive Yap and herself. Her only prayer is to live in harmony by bridging their gap with mutual respect.

"Sobrang simple -huwag mo kaming pagusapan at guluhin, mananatili akong tahimik. Dahil ang pinakapinahahalagahan ko higit sa sarili ko ay ang mapalaki nang maayos, matalino, magalang, at mapagmahal ang anak natin."
