digos jail guard in drug bust sued
CHARGES were filed before the Davao del Sur Provincial Prosecution Office on Monday against a jail guard nabbed for his involvement in illegal drug trade in Digos City.
Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, is Jail Officer 2 Manuel Lumactud De Guzman, Jr.
De Guzman, a resident of Purok Pagtoo in Barangay Zone 1 in Digos City, a jail guard assigned at Digos City Jail, was arrested in a drug-bust operation.
Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) with the Digos City Police Station arrested De Guzman at around 4:05 p.m. on Friday in Barangay Zone 2.
The suspect was arrested for selling one sachet containing suspected
shabu worth P500 to an operative who acted as buyer. Recovered from him was the item he sold.
De Guzman is currently detained at Digos City Police Station jail facility, while the seized suspected illegal drugs were already submitted to the Provincial Crime Laboratory in Davao del Sur for a qualitative and quantitative examination.
According to the law, the maximum penalty of the unlawful act shall be imposed, in addition to absolute perpetual disqualification from any public office, if he is found guilty of such acts as government official and/or employee.
