SP body ok's stall rent hike every four years

-

SANGGUNIANG Panlungsod Committee chair on finance, ways & means and appropriations Danilo Dayanghirang said he has approved the request of stall owners of different markets in the city to change the percentage of increase stall rentals based on occupied space from the proposed 15 percent increase every two years into 15 percent every four years of the proposed 2017 Revenue Code.

Dayanghirang, in an interview, said he had an ocular inspection at the Agdao public market and saw that some stalls are unoccupied including those that were used to be beauty parlors.

"We found this reasonable, we agree to the 15 percent increase every four years," he said.

Some vendors from Agdao market said the proposed revisions of 15 percent increase every two years is burdensome to them.

Maribeth Lumactod, Davao City Economic Enterprises officer-in-charge, whose office supervises eight markets in the city told Sun.Star Davao yes-

terday that they are eyeing to have 100 percent increase of market rental fees per square meter per day.

"An example is the meat section class which will be increased from the existing P20.00 per square meter per day to P40 per square meter per day," she said.

Lumactod added that their office initially studied the possibility of imposing P80 per square meter per day for the same category but having noted the possible effects to vendors; they opted to make the proposed amount to P40.
