FIVE wanted individuals were arrested while 499 personalities were invited for questioning during the Davao City Police Office’s (DCPO) simultaneous surprise operation in several villages in the city dubbed as “Oplan Bulabog”.

According to DCPO city director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum, they conducted this operation in identified barangays after receiving information that there were several internally displaced persons (IDPs) who arrived, who have yet to be documented, and that there were suspicious-looking men among them.

They started the operation at around 6 p.m. yesterday and ended at around 11:30 p.m. targeting urban poor communities. Their primary targets were the informal settlers straddling the perimeter fence of Davao City International Airport (DIA) and the densely populated barangays.

These barangays include Barangay 22-C, Boulevard; Barangay 19-B El Rio Bacaca; Sanguilaan, Barangay Maa; Don Lorenzo, Barangay Sasa; Purok Binuring/Purok Talisay, Barangay Tigato; Muslim Village, Barangay Ilang; Purok 10-14, Barangay Sirawan; Barangay Sto Nino, Mintal; and Domingga Village, Barangay Calinan Proper.

Several warrants of arrest were served, but Tagum did not identify the five arrested. The invited individuals also underwent bio-profiling and picturetaking for cross matching and records purposes to determine if they are not listed in the terrorists gallery.

Tagum added that the operation went smoothly as people cooperated.

This effort is part of their anti-terrorism campaign to ensure the safety and security of Davao City against lawless armed group who poses serious threat in the security amid the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City.

The operation was conducted by the Joint Task Force composed of Task Force Davao (TFD), Regional Public Safety Battalipn (RPSB 11), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU 11), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (Nica 11), DCPO- City Public Security Company (CPSC), MPG, Traffic Group (TG) and 10 Police Stations, Maritime Industry Authority (Marina 11), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Aviation Security Unit (Avseu 11) and among others.
