Alorica spikers draw first blood
ALORICA lived up to expectations after winning against Next BPO Solutions 25-12, 25-13, in yesterday's opener of the Davao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) Volleyball Competition held at the Davao Recreation Center formerly Almendras Gym.
Former Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) and San Pedro College (SPC) coach Sherwin Maganda paced the veteranladen Alorica to seal its first victory in the volleyfest officiated by Balibolista de Dabaw.
The outside hitter fired up six points with the help from its team captain, Jay Tuazon.
Anjo Carriedo and RJ Desierto also came up with great kills from an excellent sets courtesy of Jalween Panisales and Hard Serves.
Also contributed to the team's victory were Shane Tero and Bryll Gonzales who racked up ace services after the transition as libero Alvin Gutang flaunted sensational digs and service receptions.
"It was clear to all members of Alorica Team that we are not playing for ourselves but for everyone," Maganda said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao.
He added that no person is important than the whole team itself as each member should work on their role to execute the plan smoothly.
Maganda, however, said they will take one game at a time for their goal is to win in every scheduled game.
"The ball is round so everyone has a chance to win every game. That is why we take every game seriously," he said while hoping the odds will be in their favor.
Next BPO Solutions relied on Alvin Mark Cabelino who dropped six bombs in losing effort.
But the defeat was compensated as their gorgeous muse Arjayzelyn Lupiba won the best muse award.
Meanwhile, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey along with Balibolista de Dabaw coordinator Abet Bernan and DIBL commissioner were in attendance.
