DTI 11 assists 8K MSMEs from Jan-June
AS of first half of the year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao Region has recorded to have assisted a total of 8,335 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), already reaching 72 percent of their target for 2017.
In the semester reported provided by the DTI Davao Region Management Support Services Unit, the department has March of this year has the highest recorded assisted MSME at 3,883. There are a total of 854 on April, 1,391 on May, and 2,207 last June.
For the end of the year, they target to have had assisted 11,500 MSME both the new and existing enterprises.
The data also revealed that out of 8,335, a total of 2,734 newly registered and 974 unregistered new businesses were assisted. About 1,781 existing registered businesses and 815 existing unregistered businesses were also assisted by DTI.
As the number of assisted MSME continues to increase towards the target of 11,500 MSMEs, the number of Negosyo Centers established in the region has increased as well. DTI Davao Regional Director Maria Belenda Ambi earlier pointed out this to be one of the reasons for the MSME assistance increase.
For the year, there are already 25 Negosyo Centers, keeping up with the year’s target of 36. Their semester report also states that a good 42 percent of the businesses, or about 1,500 businesses registering through Negosyo Centers are getting registered within 15 days only.
