PRRD's P200-M aid to Digos

DIGOS CITY-Local officials were elated when President Rodrigo R. Duterte told Mayor Joseph Peñas that he will extend a P200 million assistance to the city government.

Peñas, in an interview, said the huge amount is a big help for the repair of the city gymnasium and the city hall.

“Of the amount, P170 million will be used for the constructi­on of the new city hall building while the P30 million will be used for the repair of the city gymnasium," the mayor said.

He also said that they were really happy when the President mentioned that Digos is the second place where his heart belongs.

The President is also an alumnus of the Cor Jesu College here.

“That is why we welcome him with a tarpaulin saying welcome home Mr. President,” he said.

Peñas said that Duterte wanted more developmen­t in Digos, adding that his constituen­ta welcome the attention that the city is getting from the president.

Meanwhile, the Digos City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) here is working hard to finish the installati­on of 56 highdefini­tion close circuit television­s (CCTVs).

CDRRMC executive officer Marcelino Niemes said the brand new CCTVs will augment the existing 18 units already placed in strategic areas in the city.

“These CCTVs are very important component in our day to day operations that include monitoring of road accidents and criminal activities that may occur,” Niemes said.
