Sutherland spikers in back-to-back wins
THE Sutherland Global Services women's and men's teams eked out wins in the opener of Balibolista de Dabaw-sanctioned Davao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) Volleyball Competition held at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center recently.
The Sutherland volleybelles spanked Convergys, 25-14, 258, behind Meriambe Porio who asserted her presence with killer spikes and huge blocks to complete a 19-point output.
The male spikers, meanwhile, demolished Iqor, 25-22, 25-15.
Sutherland manager Mila Nabua, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, cited the efforts of all players, particularly Porio who lifted the team to victory.
"The team played so well, they played with a heart and each one did his part," Nabua said.
She, however, acknowledge that they are up against strong teams in the tournament and that they need to do their best to earn a finals berth.
"It's too early to tell though. We just need to do our best to win every match," she said.
In other men's action, Next BPO Solutions redeemed itself after escaping past Conectys, 26-24, 25-21, while Ibex Global survived past Convergys, 27-25, 25-20.
VXI, for its part, recovered from a second set loss to beat Teleperformance, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 while Offsourcing Philippines subdued Convergys, 25-10, 25-14.
In the distaff side, Alorica routed Offsourcing Philippines, 25-15, 25-15.
