Lingap Para sa Mahirap program of the city observes ‘immediate family policy' which ensures that the transactions in the office really go to legitimate patients, but they also tap social workers for those who are unable to go to their office to process assistance.

Lingap Para sa Mahirap office-in-charge Josephine Mitaran, during the I-Speak media forum yesterday, said they only transact with the immediate family of the patients who are seeking assistance.

"Number one jud nato nga pwede mag-process sa Lingap kay ang immediate family, kung wala siya'y immediate family, kung ultimo silingan man jud atong gina-himo naa tay assessment with the social workers. Makig-coordinate mi sa social workers sa SPMC naa pud social workers naa pud social workers sa CSSDO. I-asses nato para makahatag ug hinabang (One of those who can process with the Lingap is the immediate family, if the patient has no immediate family, even

neighbor, we conduct assessment with the social workers. We coordinate with the social workers of Southern Philippines Medical Center, and also with the Social workers of the CSSDO. We will assess so that their needs can be catered)," Mitaran said.

She said they honor any valid identification card of the requestor as well as barangay certification which proves that one is a Davao city resident.

They also made sure that the issuance of barangay clearance is made easier through tapping the help of Councilor January Duterte to put up a satellite office that can issue and certify that a person belongs to a particular barangay near SPMC hospital premises.

She said Lingap Para sa Mahirap does not only cater those who are admitted in public hospitals but also private hospitals.
