YMCA-Prisaa sportsfest championships tomorrow
THE ongoing Young Men's Christian Associtioan (YMCA)-Private School Athletic Association (Prisaa) Sports Festival will hold its championship round tomorrow, Saturday, in different venues.
YMCA executive program director Silvia Piedad along with Prisaa 11 president Ma. Lita Montalban bared this in yesterday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the Food Cove function hallof NCCC Mall Davao.
Piedad said the finals of the basketball event will tip off at Lanzona Subdivision in Matina while the volleyball girls finals will be at the Governor Vicente Duterte National High School as the boys championship will be at AMA Computer College, which will also host the awarding rites on October 7.
The chess event, however, will be played at the YMCA Building along Emilio Jacinto extension.
The sportsfest opened last August 5 at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) gym and participated by 32 Prisaa member teams.
Montalban, meanwhile, said Prisaa forged a legitimate partnership with YMCA as it both aim to develop and nurture Christian values of each athlete.
In November, they also planned to hold a football and futsal events.
But Piedad said schools must first become a member of YMCA.
Montalban added, "To train a child early will lead them towards brighter future which would also help them to become future champions."
