Simultaneo­us raids yields 2 arrests

JOINT operations by authoritie­s captured two personalit­ies with a warrant of arrest while a total of 1,350 individual­s were invited for questionin­g and underwent profiling during a simultaneo­us anti-terrorism operation dubbed as Oplan Bulabog conducted in some areas in Davao City.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) city director Police Senior Superinten­dent Alexander Tagum said the operation is a joint effort aimed to clear the city from threats of terrorism and also prevent possible spillover amid the ongoing armed battle in war-torn Marawi City.

The operation was conducted at 6 a.m. yesterday, September 15, and ended around 10:30

a.m with no untoward incidents.

All the invited personalit­ies were bio-profiled and facial photos were taken to determine if they match any of the terrorist posted in their gallery. Tagum added that the operation ended without any untoward incidents happening.

Of the 1,350, a total of 194 persons were profiled in Barangay 31-D, Boulevard; 262 in Muslim Village, San Rafael, and Barangay 9-A; 348 in Sabroso Village and Barangay 76-A; and 70 were also profiled in Old NIA and Barangay Sasa.

There were also a total of 73 persons who were invited in Purok Silag, Barangay Mandug; and 81 persons in Sitio Punong, Brgy Lizada. In Purok 12 and 13, Tibungco, 47 were invited, which included 11 Internally Displace Personalit­ies (IDPs). Of the 47, one was found to have a pending warrant of arrest. The identity of the arrested person was not revealed.

For Los Amigos Relocation, Tugbok three persons were profiled while 283 in Dominga Village, Barangay Poblacion, Calinan were invited with one person arrested with warrant of arrest.

Tagum identified the arrested suspects as Junior Toñacao Cocamas, 22, and a resident of Dominga Village, Calinan. He was wanted for violation of Presidenti­al Decree 1619 or the Law on Volatile Substances issued by Judge Daydews D. Villamor of Branch 5, Regional Trial Court RTC 11, Ecoland, Davao City and Jomar Suan Maturan, wanted for slight physical injuries issued by Judge Nenette Gustilo Lemana of Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCC) Branch 6.

The operation is conducted by the joint Security Task Force composed of DCPO, together with TF Davao, Regional Public safety Battalion (RPSB 11), National Bureau of Investigat­ion (NBI 11), Criminal Investigat­ion Detection Unit (CIDU 11), Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Group 11 and Aviation Security Unit (Avseu 11).
