Atom bids good­bye to ABS-CBN

TELE­VI­SION host/ jour­nal­ist Atom Araullo an­nounced Fri­day on Uma­gang Kay Ganda that he is leav­ing ABSCBN.

The jour­nal­ist said that he wants to pur­sue new op­por­tu­ni­ties out­side of the TV net­work this time.

"Marami pa kasi akong planong gawin, gus­tong subukan, kailan­gan mag-fo­cus pero siyem­pre ganon pa rin na­man 'yung tra­baho natin sa mundo ng jour­nal­ism pero ang dami rin kas­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties ang nag­bubukas ni­tong mga nakaraang buwan dahil na rin sa mga na­gawa natin dito sa UKG. Alam niyo na­man ang in­teres ko halo-halo rin 'yan na­pa­sok na tayo sa larangan ng film-mak­ing, ‘yung Cit­i­zen Jake, mahilig rin akong ku­muha ng litrato. So marami, marami akong susubukan," he stated.

Atom shared that the man­age­ment sup­ports his de­ci­sion.

"Ako na­man eh tuwang-tuwa dahil sup­port­ive na­man ang man­age­ment at wala na­man kam­ing na­pag-awayan dito sa mangya­yaring ito. Na­pagka­sun­d­uan namin na may mga bagay na may sim­ula at kat­a­pu­san at ito na 'yung pana­hon na kum­baga sumubok lang ng bagong lan­das," Atom re­layed.

Atom has been part of the net­work for 13 years. He started in ABS-CBN’s Stu­dio 23 in 2004.

ABS-CBN has re­leased a state­ment and wishes Atom the best in his fu­ture en­deav­ors.

"ABS-CBN has al­lowed jour­nal­ist Atom Araullo to ex­plore new in­ter­ests in film, broad­cast and dig­i­tal me­dia out­side of the com­pany. Atom says the train­ing and ex­po­sure he got from the net­work as re­porter and TV host have equipped him to try out other op­por­tu­ni­ties in the me­dia in­dus­try here and abroad," the state­ment said.

It added, "ABS-CBN wishes Atom all the best in his fu­ture en­deav­ors. He will al­ways re­main a Ka­pam­ilya."
