Davao Pride league kicks off Sept 23

A TOTAL of 10 teams will vie for honors as the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) opens its Davao Pride Basketball League (DPBL) on September 23 at the Fil-Oil Flying V RMC Gym.

RMC sports coordinato­r Albert Ryan "Abing" Lim, during the Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum held at the NCCC Mall Davao Food Cove hall, said eight public schools and two private school teams are entered in the league.

"Mostly public schools ang i-ninvite namin para mabigyan sila ng chance na maka pag compete kasi mostly sa mga nag lalaro sa mga tournament­s dito sa Davao mga private schools," Abing said, including Thompson Christian College (TCS),Davao City National High School, Sta. Ana National High School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Governor Vicente Duterte National High School, Bernardo Carpio National High School, Jesus Soriano National High School and Catalunan Pequeño National High School.

Lim added that Junior High School or Senior High School teams may also join as long as they are officially enrolled.

Lim, however, said Sports Developmen­t Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) Mikey Aportadera, RMC chairman Leo Magno and RMC president Ernesto Raphael Robillo are among the prominent guests set to grace the opening program.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City Division-sanctioned cagefest will be officiated by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
