Selena Gomez UNDERWENT KIDNEY TRANSPLANT
INTERNATIONAL pop star Selena Gomez admitted via an Instagram post on Thursday, September 14 that she underwent a kidney transplant.
Selena, who posted a photo of her in a hospital bed with her donor and a picture of her scar, shared that she felt the need for her fans to know the truth.
“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” read her IG post.
Saying that she looks forward to sharing her journey, the singer thanked her family and the doctors who took care of her before and after her surgery.
She also expressed a deep gratitude for her donor, Francia Raisa.
“And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis,” she said.
Selena then took this opportunity to invite people to become aware of lupus.

Having been diagnosed with lupus in 2015, Selena revealed in an interview with People last year that she experienced depression, anxiety and panic attacks because of it.
