3 face raps for Last 2

-

A COUPLE and another man are facing charges before the court after the police recently caught them tallying bets for “Last Two” in Panacan, Davao City.

Charged with violation of the Republic Act 9287, otherwise known as Penalties for Illegal Number Games, are Ervin Pacatang and his wife Raizza; and Romel Palmon.

Prosecutor Armand Ti-

rol found probable cause to charge the three accused based on the complaint filed by PO Mark Anthony Lumantas, of the Sasa Police Station.

In a two-page resolution, members of the Sasa Police Station with the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) were conducting patrol in Panacan when they saw the couple sitting on a table, writing numbers in a “jack lord” tally sheet.

The couple was arrested and found from their possession were P1,500 bet money, two tally sheets, 11 sheets of paper--wherein last two bets were listed, one blue cellular phone, two last two stubs and one black ballpen.

Clueless to what was going on, Palmon arrived and remitted bet money and the gambling paraphernalia to the couple, thus, he was also arrested.

The three accused is currently detained at the Sasa Police Station while their case is being raffled to the court.

Under section 4 of the Republic Act 9287, possession of any gambling paraphernalia and other materials used in the illegal numbers game operation is deemed prima facie evidence of an illegal gambling activity. ICT
