The new set of officers with terms ending 2019, will focus on the Legal Aid Warriors or LAW project.
“The LAW is our centerpiece project which involves volunteer lawyers ready and willing to handle pro bono cases for the indigents,” Largo said.
Largo added that the chapter prioritizes criminal cases especially those that could no longer be accommodated by lawyers of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), petition for document corrections like birth certificates, family cases like adoption and annulment or similar cases referred by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The IBP encourages other lawyers to join the LAW project, in addition to around 100 volunteers who have formally pledged their commitment during the event.
