2nd CGBL starts next weekend
THE 2nd conference of the Catalunan Grande Basketball League (CGBL) will tip off next weekend at the Davao City Recreation Center.
The event aims to provide avenue for any types of basketball aficionados to showcase their skills and hidden basketball fundamentals.
It is open to all players except for commercial and professional players in a bid to share the limelight to those starters and diminishing basketball players.
But high school varsity teams may join to allow them to play in different level of competition from their usual regular avenue as part of their development.
Five teams are already entered including the defending champion, GJCC Calibrators, Mahiwaga, Emar Human and Environmental College, Assumption College of Davao and Davao Group.
Slots are still available for a chance to emerge the 2nd champion of the cagefest sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The cagefest will be a single-round robin format in which the top two teams in each bracket will play in the semifinals.
The champion will receive P5,000 while the next two placers will grab P3,000 and P2,000.
The event is supported by The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao San EI Trading, Bearing Center and Machinery Inc., Mahugani Security Agency, Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office and City Mayor's Office.
