UM hosts Pilmico’s bread baking contest
THE University of Mindanao Hotel and Restaurant Management facility played host to the Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition Mindanao leg last September 30, 2017, with the winners going to be sent to compete in the national competition sponsored by Pilmico Foods Corporation this month.
Topping the contest were Pancho Galvez Jr. and Marvin Mangubat of Park Inn by Radisson in Lanang with their Rye Durian Cheese Roll and Dobe Mago (Durian-Ube, Mango-Mongo) Cheese Bread. They won P10,000 cash and P5,000 worth of gift certificates from Max’s Restaurants, and an exclusive training from Pilmico Research and Training Bakery.
Second place was the team of Richard Doloza and Aldrin Fajardo, with their Pan Bisaya and Pan de Coco with Sesame.
The Tinapay Natin Pinoy was started in 2016 by Pilmico with Max’s Corner Bakery, Max’s Restaurant, and the Mahalin Pagkaing Atin program of the Aboitiz company.
The bread were judged by Charisse Puentespina, Managing Director for Malagos Garden and Malagos Chocolates, Monette Aldos, Business Unit Head for Max’s Corner Bakery, and Paul Maguma, Regional Sales Manager for Flour of Pilmico.
Galvez and Mangubat will be competing with the Luzon and Visayas winners on November 16, 2017 at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila.
