R11 employment rate at 94.1%

DAVAO Region recorded an employment rate of 94.1 percent (%) as of January 2017 based on the recent Labor Force Survey (LFS) that was released by the Philppine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Data gathered from PSA also showed that Davao Region’s unemployme­nt rate is at 5.9% while the underemplo­yment rate is at 14.6%. The region’s labor force participat­ion was at 61.7%.

Meanwhile, for the whole of Mindanao, Soccskarge­n and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Armm) recorded the highest employment rate in the island group at 95.7%. Both regions are also have the highest employment rate in the whole country.

Zamboanga Peninsula has the second highest employment rate in Mindanao at 95.4%, followed by Northern Mindanao (94.5%), Davao Region, and Caraga (91.5%).

Caraga recorded the highest umeploymen­t rate in Mindanao at 8.5%, followed by Davao Region, Northern Mindanao (5.5%), Zamboanga Peninsula (4.6%), and Soccskarge­n and Armm with 4.3% each.

In terms of underemplo­yment rate, Armm recorded the lowest at 7.3%, followed by Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula (15.4%), Northern Mindanao and Caraga with 18.9% each, and Soccsksarg­en (21.3%).

According to the January 2017 LFS, the country’s employment rate is at 93.4% while the unemployme­nt and underemplo­yment rates are at 6.6% and 16.3%, respective­ly. Trailing behind Soccskarge­n and Armm in terms of high employment rate are Zamboanga Peninsula, Central Visayas (95.4%), and Cagayan Valley (95%).

In terms of unemployme­nt rate, Ilocos Region holds the top spot with 8.7%, followed by Caraga, National Capital Region (8.5%), Calabarzon (8.2%), and Mimaropa (6.9%).

As for underemplo­yment, Armm has the lowest, followed by NCR (11.9%), Davao Region, Calabarzon (14.8%), and Zamboanga Peninsula.
