Panabo City hosts national invitation­al men’s tennis tournament

PANABO City will host the Merco-Selectapre­sented Mayor James Gamao National Invitation­al Tennis Championsh­ip 2017 slated October 19 to 22.

Tournament chairman Anthony Ferrazzini, also president of Mercantile Corporatio­n (Merco), bared this in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao Monday.

"Panabo has new tennis twin courts and Mayor Gamao is very receptive to hosting the men's invitation­al tournament that will feature the country's top players," Ferrazzini said.

The past five editions of the annual competitio­n was played in Davao City.

Ferrazzini added that Johnny Arcilla of Butuan City is returning to defend his singles and doubles titles.

Also joining him are veteran internatio­nalist Patrick John Tierro, Leander Lazaro, Davao City's Mark Anthony Alcoseba, John Mari Altiche, Noel Mariano Damian Jr.,

Elbert Vicente Anasta and Fritz Chris Verdad. They will compete for cash prizes in the roundrobin format, free-registrati­on event.

The Manila-based netters will arrive on October 18 and will have a press conference over lunch upon their arrival at Hotel Elena.

This event will feature round robin system with no registrati­on fee required.
