The local government started the five-day celebration last Sunday with a trail running competition featuring 21K and 42K categories.

Beautiful women from 18 villages also showcased their talents and vied for the Mutya ng Sta. Cruz title Monday night.

Mayor Alexis Almendras said the public enjoyed the free admission activities. An Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan was held Tuesday followed by a concert presented by San Miguel Beer (SMB) in the evening.

A blood-letting activity was conducted Wednesday as others watched the motocross, trisikad race and acrobatic skills show.

More fun is expected when the celebration ends today with a grand parade, drum and lyre and rhythmic dance presentation, OPM grand finals and Mayor’s night. Another SMB concert will entertain the public at the plaza where a fireworks display will also be held.

The mayor thanked Hyrdoelectric Power Corporation of the Aboitiz Company, Franklin Baker, San Miguel Beer and other companies who helped them boost their economy.

Sta. Cruz was created on October 5, 1884.

Government employees and institutions will further enjoy the celebration as the local government has received Proclamation No. 313 from the Office of the President declaring the celebration as special non-working holiday in Sta. Cruz.
