Police verifying 8-year-old's story

AUTHORITIE­S are looking into an alleged kidnapping attempt on an eight-year-old child rescued in Bago Aplaya.

Talomo Police Station Chief Police Chief Inspector Oliver Navales in an interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday said that they are still verifying the details whether or not the kidnapping was true.

"Ginapa-verify pa sa women's and children's desk (It is currently being verified through WCD)," he said.

Navales said there

was no police report filed on the incident but since they've heard of it, he asked personnel to check the situation.

Based on a post in Davao City Public Inquiry Page, an eight-year-old child was rescued by a barangay tanod at around 12 a.m. of September 8, 2017 at Bago Aplaya.

The same post read that the child attested that armed men tried to abduct him and asked him to get inside a black car, and two other children, a boy and a girl, are also in the car.

The post read that the child was able to escape from his abductors, and due to the incident, was traumatize­d.

Concerned citizens reported that a child was seen hiding behind trucks at Gulfview area.

The child was turned over to Barangay Talomo.

Meanwhile, Navales in the same interview yesterday said according to their initial investigat­ion, the child was known in the barangay as someone who frequently wanders around. KVC
